Anyone on here have one of the XGI

I wonder if Ruger will ever revisit this project and work the kinks out. It seems like with the high prices of the 308 Semi Autos they could build a 308 carbine and make a profit?

Prior to doing more R&D I assume they would at least wait to see what new guncontrol laws pass in the next couple of years. As far as profit is concerned they are probably dong quite well at the moment. If the XGI is still legal in the future and they need a new product I imagine we might see a .308 semiauto from them.

1) The Mini-30 was originally named the "XGI" before the caliber switch.
2) You can load .308 bullets for the Mini-30, if you want. (Don't take my word for that. Do your own research. My memory isn't what it use to be.)
Longslide please look at the bolt for the XGI in flipflop's diagrams. The bolt lugs of the XGI are massive. Assuming that the steel is of good quality it was certainly unlikely that strength of the action was a factor. Durability could an another factor.

IIRC correctly the mini-30 first came out in .308 and are considered safe for .3105" ak bullets. I am not sure if it still does.
