I just acquired a Ruger model .44 carbine rifle for what I feel is a decent price of $250. Tube fed. 1962 production. The gun functions great. It has quite a bit of handling wear on the load ramps and bluing is approximately 75%. I don't intend to restore it, just completely disassemble and clean. I am however wanting to find a factory stock for it, standard or sporter. The original stock shows some wear, with dings and scratches along the entire length. That doesn't bother me except the original owner decided to remove the steel buttplate and personally install a pachmeyer recoil pad. its a very poor job, the butt of the stock is obviously damaged. I know its a long shot, but id like to find an original stock in good condition. Any help is much appreciated.
