I take my ruger out as much as possible for steel shoots. The 10/22 is a pretty good basis for our steel competitions and with a few mods it can compete with the best. What kind of mods do you have?

I use mine for shooting metal also at our local club's gong shoots (when we have them). Only mods I did to mine was to put a FiberForce ATI stock on (I like the pistol grip), Tech Sights, and sling. I did pick up a couple 25 round Butler Creek magazines for my 10/22, but I seldom use them as we are only allowed to load three shots in our magazines at each "gong station"...

I don't think the 10/22 gives up much on accuracy. Today I was practicing my offhand shooting at gongs (25, 30, 35, 40, 45, & 50 yards) and hit a whole lot more then I missed.

After I was done with the gongs, I posted a TQ-3/2 NRA double bull target and shot 10 shots at each bull from 25 yards - offhand. The left bull scored 95/100 with a 1-1/8" 10 shot group,,, and the right bull scored 95/100 with a 10 shot 1-7/16" group.

I've had my 10/22 in this configuration for 5-6 years now, and I really like it!:)
