Ruger has never claimed there was an issue with the TD lever, and owners who have sent their SR22P s back for repair receive the pistol back with what appears to be a replacement lever exactly the same as the original. No one seems to know if the lever has changed or not, but the owners with failures dont seem to report addition problems. I have one of the very early production SR22Ps with "PISTOL" on the slide. When the lever fails, the slide comes off the front of the gun, and the recoil spring will launch it into the ground in front of you. I shoot at a range that has gravel and didnt want my slide all banged up if the lever fails. I replaced my lever with the improved, replacement lever from Twin Tech Tactical. Its $20 and cheap insurance. Its nice to know there is an aftermarket replacement, and for me, it was a simple decision.
