Have had this weapon for a couple months now. Personally I like the Hogue wrap around grip, always have. Replaced original slide release with the Wilson Combat Stainless Steel Extended Slide Release. Works great and hardly any effort to operate. This is the first of a SS from Blued parts swap.

I had Novak install a stainless steel ambidextrous safety on my 1911CMD....after seeing your stainless steel slide release, I ordered one too....I seen on Wilson Combat website they offer a stainless beaver tail.....that would look good too........

Got mine May of 2011.

Grip tape and a coated slide is all I've done.

About 2,000 rounds so far and a trip back to Ruger for a new front sight. Last one broke off about 500 rounds ago. Round trip to Ruger was only 5 days - great service!

I had it done locally, WWW.falcongunfinishing.com .

Jeff's done a lot of work for me and does guns for a number of custom gun manuf's.

Its just black cerakote. Its wearing at the muzzle, but its had a bazillion presentations. Supposed to wear some.

Yeah, its a long story as to why I got the slide coated. LOL

I'm not that fond of two tone guns, but it has grown on me.

Have come to the decision that the SR1911 is a good basic platform to strip down and replace everything. This will be the second time around for ups to deliver it really for repairs. For and the front sight broke off.

Hey gatekeeper, im fairly new to the forum and just got my first 1911 the sr1911 cmd. I was going to ask, whats your thoughts on guide rods for the recoil spring or is that not even an option for the commander or what? Also, whats some upgrades that are worth doing to the sr1911 cmd? Or are grips basically it? Id like to gain as much performance as I can.

Love my SR 1911. Accurate and fun. My son and grandsons always choose it over my LC9s and others on our trips to the range. My "problem" is, after shooting my other pistols, the 3.5 lb trigger feels too light, almost dangerously "hairy".
My other ones are around 5.5 to 6.5. Without major "surgery" or expense, could I mod it closer to my others or should I just leave well enough alone?
