I recently purchased a 77/44 bolt rifle and am having a problem with the eye relief of my Leupold 2.5x8 VXIII scope. I cannot get the full sight picture at any power higher than 4. The stock is just too long or the eye relief is too short. Any other suitable scope out there with 5" or so of eye relief? The other option is to shorten the stock but I need to take off about 2 inches which looks like the sling swivel stud is in the way and the built in screw holes in the stock would be cut off. Any advice is appreciated.

I found a bushnell shotgun scope with 6 inch eye relief but it changes to 3 inches at the higher powers and is not as good quality as my leupolds. So I may have to go with fiber optic sights or find a replacement wood stock for this rifle.

Cabellas has a scope designed for a .44 trajectory , such as it is, you may want to check on the eye relief for it, it's i think a 3x9
