When I first started shooting Mini-14's I resisted the idea of a scout mount, mostly because the appearance of a forward-mounted optic just didn't seem right. I eventually got over it, especially with the availability of so many red dot sights with unlimited eye relief. I'm loving this Ultimak/Weaver setup...;)

I was skeptical at first, too. About 5 years ago I went with an UltiMak and a Millett red dot as a "let's see what all the fuss is about" and have never removed it since. I love both eyes open and nothing in the way of the ejecting empties.

Red dot sight with 4 reticles on my 581-series Ranch Rifle with ATI Strikeforce stock. My 14-year-old granddaughter keeps them all in the black (B27 centers reduced size) at 25 yards (simulates 100 yards) with it.
