The good folks over at Sturm, Ruger are combing the earth looking for the newest version of the famous 10/22 rifle. Moreover, your input is needed.

The Contest

(The 10/22 comes pretty vanilla from Ruger, but many users spend hundreds to convert them into something more custom)

You have to admit, that the 10/22 is one of the most customizable rifles ever made. Millions of these guns have come off the lines in the past half century and the aftermarket industry that has resulted from their spread is huge. Well, Ruger has figured out that user-modifications of their guns can lead to something beautiful. With that in mind they are asking for the public\'s input on the next 10/22 design in honor of the gun\'s 50th anniversary.

(Yes this is still a Ruger 10/22)

How to submit

Ruger posted the following details on their website.

Submit your design to the Ruger 10/22 50th Anniversary Design Contest and thousands of people may have the chance to buy a rifle based on your design. To enter for a chance to win, submit a photo of your customized rifle, an itemized parts list and a brief description of your design between now and 12:00 p.m. ET on Friday, October 18.

(Yes this is still a Ruger 10/22, well, actually, two of them)

Pick the Winners

After the submissions have poured in, Ruger will pic ten finalists \"based on the style of their submitted design, Ruger\'s ability to produce, and its appeal to Ruger consumers.\" Then from these ten, the public will be asked to weigh in on the contest and vote for the overall winner, which will then become Ruger\'s latest production 10/22. The voting period will be Monday, October 21 and Friday, November 1, to vote at the same website linked above. One vote per person, per day please.

(Yes, still another Ruger 10/22, this one made to look like a Russian Krinkov AK74)

The overall winner will get a production version of their rifle design, a trip to the Newport, NH plant to watch the production run, and $5K worth of Ruger products. The other nine runners up get their choice of a Ruger firearm from the line.

(M249 SAW? Nope, Ruger 10/22)

Overall, not a bad idea.

Be sure to send in some pics of your favorite 10/22 conversion and stand by to see what America thinks of it.

Ruger Talk will keep you in the loop with the people\'s choice as the contest continues.
