Looking to get a RPR.Im new in the long range shooting sports and I’m not sure if I should go for one in 308 or the 6.5 Creedmore

Since mainly its punching holes in paper I’m thinking 308 since the ammo is less expensive I just don’t want to regret that I should have got the 6.5 instead

    Any advise is greatly appreciated

308 is battle tested. How much more do you need?

I'm no expert, do a lot of reading on the 6.5. It's an amazing cartridge! It well outperforms the 308. The opinions on 6.5 vs 308 always go to 6.5, young and old. I went with the 6.5! It's amazing

I would say that it really depends on what you want to do with the rife. How far do you want to shoot? If you want to shoot a lot at 1000 yards then the 6.5 will usually be better at that then the 308. Especially if you are going to be buying factory ammo. As far as the ammo cost; both calibers are usually around $30 for 20 rounds of match ammo, and for some standard ammo $20 for 20 rounds. The only difference being no surplus 6.5 and less options if you are looking to buy in bulk. Hope that helps!
