I have a 96\22 .22LR. love it enough to buy another stock and ream it for a .920 barrel. also have a sporter MGM .17HM2 barrel. great guns

I have the 96 in a 22mag and I swear it's tempting to label it as my "if you could have just one rifle" gun. At 50 yards it puts them all in one hole and I've posted 2 targets in my workshop with 3 shot groups of 1.2" at 100 yards. I'm not really a "prepper" but it might make a good SHTF rifle.

Does it use the same rotary mag. as a 10/22?

The 22 mag uses a rotary mag that look just like the 22LR mag only it is slightly longer. It holds 9 rounds instead of 10.

I have a 96/22 lr......my favorite suppressor host, quiet as a bolt gun but faster reloading.

Stumper: I don't have a 22 mag but I think you may find that you will have to cut a second extractor groove for it to work in the lever gun.

I have been looking for one of these at the many gun shows I attend and have only seen one and that was in poor shape with an unbelievable high price on it. I recall the guy was asking $850 and would not budge. Will keep looking as there are a few various guns I would buy if a deal can be made and the Ruger 96 and semi-automatic 44 are both on my list.

I have a 96 in a 44. Nice old gun and the price was right, tho haven't use it yet.
