This was my first Ruger. I got it in 1978 or 79.
My Security Six

Here is mine. It was my first carry gun when I got on the SO and is inscribed with "Made in the 200th year of America's Liberty."

This is my Security six from 1974 I shoot it off and on but use it every year for hunting. I have all the original "stuff" but have different grips and a different holster.

I never understood why ruger discontinued the S6 since in my opinion it was the ideal .357 relative to weight and durability.

Yeah, like the Playboys I found as a kid. The pics were the best part.

Ah, the good old days :)
this is my new to me security six. It is in its third life. First it defended a rural PD officer. Then it went to Vietnam and when it came back it came to live in my home. I added the Tyler T grip and put the factory grips back on.

It's a marketing thing. No mater how good a product is, they have to come up with new and improved version to justify their existance.
bvd1,
Good job, right on top, where they belong.
