That little shopping trip I did last Saturday cost me some more money today,

I went back to the Pawn Shop and haggled/negotiated for That CZ 453 Varmint, that I wanted real bad,

I only found one , on the interwebs for sale, it was $599.

He had a good price on it,
He wanted $360 + tx,
I wanted $300 + tax, so we met at $320+ tax.

He knew how rare it was also, and how purty it was, hanging in his shop, he told me so, and he was not coming down anymore.

This is not the Flagship 452 model, this is the best of the best. 453 Varmint.

So now I got to decide what scope I want to order for it, and hope that it shoots up to its reputation.

It has a set trigger, which is set at .5 lb,
without setting , its 2.5 lb for hunting.
Barrel is 21"tapered bull .
action is 125 year old Mauser design,
Has a 5 round mag, but 10 and higher are available.
No sights.

Bore and rifling are like its never been shot, and the bolt has zero wear marks.:)

Here is what she looks like.

Phideaux, what scope is on it now?
Its just a cheap China made one that came on an air rifle .

It will get me started until I decide what REAL scope I will be getting.

I like Vortex and Leupold scopes, also Nikon.

Got to decide if I want long range or short range .

I may try some long range shooting with this rifle.
Ive seen videos of this rifle hitting 6 inch metal at 375 yards.

I never had a Nikon, but Leupold and Vortex both have a forever warranty that they stand behind. If you got the scope you got the warranty. :D

I'm not sure how old it is , not very.

I think they stopped production on the 453 in 2012.

Heres a write up about when the started the 453......

****
August 2005

CZ-USA is pleased to introduce the CZ 453 bolt-action rimfire series now available in both the varmint and American models. The 453 takes the time tested platform of the CZ 452 and adds a fully adjustable, single set trigger system mechanically identical to that featured on the CZ 527 and CZ 550 centerfire rifles.

In addition to the single set trigger, the new CZ 453 retains all of the quality and accuracy of the 452. The CZ bolt-action rimfire rifles are manufactured from steel billets, not tubing or plastic. The barrels are hammer forged for accuracy and long life. The safety is located above the rear of the bolt and provides a positive firing pin block.

More on the single-set trigger:
The single-set trigger provides both a standard hunting and a light, target style trigger pull on the same rifle depending on the demands of the situation. By operating the rifle in the same manner as any other bolt-action rifle, the rifle functions with a normal hunting rifle trigger pull (adjustable down to 2 lbs). If you are shooting from the bench, or have time to set up for the shot, push the trigger forward until you feel and hear a click. Now your normal hunting rifle has a target trigger pull (adjustable to less than ½ lb).

The CZ 453 American comes with a 5 round detachable magazine. Single shot adapters and 10 rd magazines are also available and are interchangeable with 452 models of the same caliber.

CZ 453 American: Barrel Length: 22.5”; Weight: 6.17 lbs; LOP: 13.75”
CZ 453 Varmint: Barrel Length: 20.9”; Weight: 6.84 lbs; LOP: 13.75”

MSRP for the CZ 453 American and Varmint is $530.00 in .22 LR and .17 Mach 2.

I really like my Redfield scope, it also has the lifetime warranty since Leopold bought them. Plus it is American made in Oregon.:)

Well, a little bit.

I went Sat morning looked at the Marlin 444, that my buddy told me about.

Guns are similar to women ya know.

Went and looked at her,
she wasn't so pretty,:gaah: (happens on blind dates ya know.)

And she was way too rich for my blood,

We didn't even kiss...:quickkiss: I pretended I didn't know her.:spot:

See how I do that ....

Did the same thing yesterday on a Jungle Carbine. Big dent in top of for end and inside of barrel was black, hadn't been cleaned and may have been hiding pitting. He wanted $550 and I just couldn't see it worth that.
