Hello All: I have a late 80s tactical stainless 14 and have heard you can get a heavier barrel for them. I've been using the Fiocchi Super V Max ammo, and the barrel gets really hot. Any advice/info from the Ruger pros out there sincerely appreciated, like the rifling ratios, etc. I have access to a local gunsmith for install.

You certainly don't need to go the expense of replacing the barrel on your Mini-14. Take a look around the Internet, and read the outstanding results other Mini-14 owners have achieved by installing a barrel stabilizer, such as the Mo-Rod... www.sunflowerammo.com
