As the title says, I'm new to ruger an I'm from lake Charles, la.

I was in the military for a few years. Did a deployment, and fell in love with my m4.
After returning home, I've always wanted another, but couldn't come to paying the price for one. Hence where I'm at now. I ended up buying a mini 14 for a really cheap price. Less than 100 cheap. It's a 181 series. The guy had painted the gun with a spray on bed liner and jacked it up pretty bad. So I'm sanding it down and refinishing it a cherry stain. Here's the progress I got so far...

Here, u can see where he butchered the liner and what I'm having to sand through...

Well... That's about it. I plan on starting a build thread soon, an use it to record what mods and changes I make to it.

Took it apart and cleaned it real good with some clp. Couldn't figure out how to get the firing pin out of the bolt....

That's so sad but it looks like your undoing the wrong and restoring its glory :) Please start a thread on it so we can watch the progress! Very cool!
