I have had an idea for the 22 long rifle or mag, when they come up with the 17 with the rifle bullet, I have always thought that the use of a 22 hornet bullet in 30 grain would make a good long range cartridge in the long rifle and mag. In considering the long rifle a 20 per cent increase in power would work well, in the case of the 22 mag, add the bullet and leave the powder charge alone. because of the ballistics of this bullet it should be very stable for long range work.
Further I be leave the 17 has stability problums because of the light bullet and low rifle turns per inch because of the high speed of the bullet.
