Is it safe to shoot mini mag .22 ammo in my SR22 and Bearcat?
Decided that maybe if I actually read the manual I may get my own answer.
And for the bearcat!
CCI Mini-Mags are among the very best .22LR ammunition. As far as I know it is fine for any .22LR firearm. Certainly it is fine for any Ruger .22LR revolver and for the SR22P.
welcome to the forum, lots of nice folks and as you can see good info here. two fine choices in pistols there too.
Mini mag is 22 lr
CCI Mini-Mag is .22LR High Velocity ammo; if there were a +P designation, Mini-Mag would not be in it.
I found out CCI quiet 720fps 22lr will not work correctly in a SR22. The slide has to be racked after every shot because the next round will not go into battery. I imagine then that 22 shorts will not work either.
Yep read the manual first for safe gun operation. I didn't realize I had bought this cheesy ammo till after the malfunction and reading the box ammo description. I just saw CCI and bought it since it is hard to find 22 ammo. Big OOPS!
I will only use this ammo in my revolvers now.
Yes, revolvers are what CCI ammo of that type are intended for.
Great marketing ploy on CCI's part.
Call a plain ole high velocity .22 LR "Mimi-Mag" and some will think it's faster than all the others.
Not to knock em, they are good high velocity .22 LR's. Got to hand it to them for naming it Mini-Mag, smart marketing.
PMC used to market .22LF high velocity rounds under the "Zapper" brand. Same deal.
I have a vast supply of CCI MiniMags; the 40 gr. solid is my "go to" for all my .22s. I regularly shoot it in my mid-'60s vintage Bearcat without problem or issue. I don't have an SR22 but MiniMags work great in all my semis (MkII 22/45; MkIII Hunter; Sig Mosquito; S&W M&P .22 Compact).
Not only can you, you should this is arguably one of the best long rifle ammo you can buy
