About every 2-3 rounds the primer is not hit hard enough to cause the primer to fire. It is a series 186 that I bought a couple of years ago and burned a few boxes of ammo through it then with no problems. Any ideas?

I would try different boxes of ammo with softer primers. If it still light strikes with every brand of ammo.......then send it to a gunsmith.

As with any firearm, never leave it cocked when storing. Release the tension on the main spring (firing pin, etc.) buy dry firing or using a Snap Cap.

Compressed firing pin springs are not good over long periods of storage.
