. Using original sights my M44 hits 8.5 inches above point-of-aim at 25 yards. I've decided to mount a scope rather than replace the front sight blade. I understand a sturdy scope (and mounts) will be required as the carbine has a healthy kick. It may also need more than usual elevation adjustment. The four scope-mounting screws (two on the barrel, two on the rear of the receiver) are both small and at different levels. The receiver screws are 0.050 in. above the barrel's. . How did you handle this aberration ? .
