Stumbled onto this little vintage jewel yesterday at a pawn shop. These are hard to find these days. H&R model 939 Sidekick, DA/SA 9 shot .22 cal. MFG date is 1972. Im happy $300 OTD. Jim
If you visit enough Pawn or Gun shops, you MIGHT come across one, they are hard to find. When I do....I usually grab it. These old 50s-80s revolvers are getting scarce. H&Rs, Iver Johnsons, High Standards are my favorites. I dont shoot em much, I just like their looks and quality, but they are true target revolvers, very accurate.....fun, Jim
I've got an H&R model 649 .22lr/22mag convertible that was my dad's that's from that time, but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Don't know if it's me or the ammo,I've only shot it a few times with the magnum ammo. Just got it because it was his and I love handguns .
Its you.... I love those old revolvers. I havent come across one yet , that didnt shoot better then I could. Hold onto that one...it has FAMILY written all over it. Those 649s are so cool, with the 2 cylinders , back in the day. RARE. Jim
I can remember it was only 5 or 8 years ago these were very common around here. Could find them at any of the couple shops I'd visit at any given time tagged in the $135 range. Never bothered bringing one home as they just didn't feel "right" in my hands. I think being very partial to Rugers help me leave them behind then.
