I have a new mini-30 that has a live round jammed, the slide won't move to eject and the safety is off and also won't move. The round is a Winchester brass factory load so that shouldn't be the problem,I called Ruger and they said tap slide with rubber mallet, didn't work, next they suggested soaking rifle in WD-40 and take to gunsmith,I'm not amused.

Gunsmith is a valid suggestion, unless you are capable of SAFELY disassembling the rifle around the round. Exactly where is the round jammed??

I suspect that the Ruger service guy was intent on 'deactivating' the round with the penetrating oil. Probably not necessary to soak the entire gun. Even then, you couldn't safely ship the gun to Ruger - the stuck round negates that possibility. Take the gun to a riflesmith.
