I'm looking at purchasing a Ruger Revolver ... most likely .357
I would very much like to hear your thoughts

I currently own two Rugers: SR9c and LCP

For me, it is my favorite gun of all time... maybe biased, was first handgun I bought and first one I carried.

    The Security-Six

Of course, the GP100 replaced it. Which is a fine double action 357 . Then there is the super GP100 (the GP100 match champion) which is the GP100 with modifications to make it even better.

For single action, SavageGuy's Blackhawk there, is a damn good un.

LCR 357. It fills the need while other revolvers I have sit in the safe. It isn't pretty but it sure does what it was made for and it does it very well.

Either a 9mm LCR, or a Speed Six (2 3/4 inch barrel). I had an opportunity to buy a that Speed Six about 5 years ago, and I've regretted passing on it ever since.

May I ask , what do you intend to use it for?

Open carry, conceal carry, target shooting, range shooting, hunting, or ......

For an all around gun, I already have one and it is the 4" Ruger GP100. That's a pretty tough gun to beat.

Just one, Ruger 4 inch Security Six. Second would be Blackhawk 45 Colt.

Great question Jim! I should have clarified the purpose. Definitely not for open or conceal carry although the revolver choices listed in this post no doubt are good ones.

For conceal carry I use either HK P30 or Walther PPS

Moving to farm life in northern Maine. Just wanted something on hip with a moose or black bear punch while working the woods.

Thanks for all the advice and input ... very much appreciated

I would offer a lame excuse that I want to defend our Scottish Highlander's in the fields but they can defend themselves as one morning we found dead moose in the pasture. Apparently got to close to one of the calves.

So I'm just looking for an excuse to continue my redneck ways lol

I have had my eye on the GP100 in 4". Seems like it is built like a tank. I like that very much

I hunted Moose and Black Bear for years back in my youth.

Not that your hunting them, but for an angry bull or bear...

I'm gonna say minimum , Super Blackhawk .44mag.

357 mag is my favorite all around caliber, but a POd Bear or Moose aint gonna respect it .

Ive seen 3 shots of 30-06 to take a charging bull .
