When I was a kid my brothers and neighbors would catch chipmunks by using miniature rabbit traps. We had to be watching from close by because the little critters would pick the door up and run back out.
We has one caught that we kept for awhile in an old big TV box. My one brother told my little brother to reach inside the box to get ahold of it. When he did that the critter bit him on his thumb. My brother was flinging his thumb around and finally it let go and ran away. The other brother said yeah he bit my thumb also. LOL That brother did some stupid stuff to us.

You can do some damage around the yard with a good pellet gun, I've got a Ruger. 22 cal.

    Pellet guns are so underestimated/appreciated.

I have several pellet rifles and pistols. They're very handy because of how quiet they are. I've shot many squirrels and one time a racoon with pellet guns.

I like them because they are handy for controlling pests in and around the house...even a .22 can be overkill sometimes.

And then there are times where you need to shoot but can't because the damn squirrel is on or near the house...and you don't want to damage your property.

Pellets come in better hunting configurations ( Hollow or Pointed ) than BB's...

And...Ammo IS cheap and easy to find too... ;)

A pellet gun is nice because you can control the power by how many pumps you give it.

You can always get rat shot to shoot out of the .22 It doesn't tear things up but will stop a squirrel.:D

The pellet gun has a suppressor...the .22 and rat shot...not yet, but it will some day.
