I have a Lee 6 cavity mold for my 45ACP in 200 grain wt SWC and it has made a lot bullets. Over the years luring the mold pins etc it needs cleaning. It being an aluminum mold, is there anyone using the Lee molds that can offer a suggestion..... Just want to get all the burnt residue off of it from the lube.
    Thanks for the info...KY

The only lube should be the very small amount that goes on the pins and the sprue plate bolt. I never had a problem with the residue. I would not try to remove the sprue plate (but I'll bet a number of folks have).
As long as the bullets come out good, I don't worry.
I clean my molds with brake cleaner and a cotton swab for niches. I usually put the mold away wrapped in VCI paper and don't put any rust preventative on them.

I got some break cleaner at WallyWorld. It did a good job with a tooth brush. Thanks for the suggestion. KY
