Thinking of buying a mini 14 but have read many bad reviews . Any thoughts
And if i buy a 5 rd can i buy bigger mags and use them or is a 5 different receiver than 20. Thx

Well...the Mini 14 has been around since what, the late 1970s? It's still going strong. That should tell you something about its quality. I've shot them but never owned one so I'm not an expert. What I do know is they don't jam and don't break, but usually are less accurate than an AR15. As far as the mags go I think you can use any Mini 14 mag in any Mini 14, but I'll let one of the guys who owns one give you a "for sure" answer.

Yes all mags for the Mini 14, will fit and work .
5, 10, 20 , no problem.

I traded my mini 14 a few years ago, shoulda kept it, but I was losing too much brass.:rolleyes::)

Thanks , i have a 10/22 , ar 556, several semi auto handguns , a Blackhawk 9mm/357 convertible an american 308 predator and an american 223 ranch. Love them all and to own a mini only makes sense for me for my collection.

Thx guys bought the 5801 wood stock mini 14 last week and love it! It eats any thing i put in it. My 16 yr old grandson loves it also. May buy a mini 30 next . Thx

Were you able to pick up any higher capacity magazines?

Yes Jim I purchased a 10 Rd pro mag and 2 30 Rd Tapco polymer , all 3 worked flawless . Also ordered a 20 Rd Ruger which I haven't received yet.
