Since i already have an FN PS90 carbine that shoots the 5.7 x 28 cartridge AND since the FN Five Seven pistol is so expensive, I'm buying the new RUGER 57 pistol.
More ergonomic than the Five Seven and likely more reliable, plus around half the street price.

I'll get 2 extra 20 round magazines - zombie armageddon, ya know... ;o)

Shot a rental at the range today. I REALLY liked it. Great shooter, very low recoil. Metal magazines, sharp edges, hurt thumb :). Not use to loading TWENTY rounds into a pistol mag. Can't wait for Sportsman's Warehouse to call to say mine is in.

I bet that 5.7x28mm is a flat shooting round too. I have never shot that particular round before.

Joe, those [email protected] zombies better watch out when we get our Ruger 57s.
30 rounds 30 "dead" zombies - all face shot, natch.
And then there's my 50 round PS90 mags. Oh the joy.

Howsomever, let us pray the price of 5.7 ammo goes down!

The magazines hold 20 rounds. You should get two with the gun.
I shot two different guns at two ranges. Both were great shooters. Can't wait for Sportsman's to get them in. In the meantime I rented a Taurus Judge at one of my local ranges. It is now on my want list. Put some big holes in the paper at 7 yards rapid fire double action. Most shots put two holes in the paper. One from the slug and one from the wading. o_O

Yer keerect, it's 20 rounds. Must have been thinking of my buddy's KelTec .22 mag pistol.
Even so, 20 centerfire rounds in a pistol is a "goodly amount".

What a lot of people either forget or don't know about this cartridge is that even in a pistol it is very capable of 100 yard delivery with decent accuracy. With my PS 90 I get 6" groups at 200 yards with a red dot sight.

Joe, that target looks "DEAD"!
BTW, I just bought a slightly used stainless Tarus Trakker 4" barrel .44 magnum from my shooting buddy. $400. seemed a fair price to me. Yeah, it aint a S&W but it IS reliable.

Got it for backpacking in grizzly country. Left hand = bear spray canister, right hand = Tarus Tracker. Maybe both would work.

UPDATE: Ordered my RUGER 57 from another source that put me #9 on their list. I gave up on Sportsman's Warehouse B/C it's all "First come first served" with them. They email you when the 57s are in but by the time you respond all the 57s are GONE! And that's B/C SW won't take your card number for instant payment when the pistols come in.
**My new source takes your card number and notifies you when it is shipped to you FFL dealer.

The thing with Sportsman's Warehouse is I have around $130.00 in Loyalty bucks plus about $75.00 in gift cards. Soooooo. $200.00 off the price plus a Veterand discount. I'll wait.
The 44 mag is a great round. I use 44 specials in my S &W model 29 4". Makes it a real pleasure to shoot.
