I went shopping today with my grandson , to look at a Sharps , 45-70, and a fully moded SKS.

Never made it to that LGS.
I stopped in a LGS on the way and this darn .308 Savage with a custom made and fitted muzzle brake , on a silencer ready barrel , just jumped off the wall right into my hands, and ,the sucker even walked out with me.

Cant wait to get a Scope mounted and try it out.

I think I did OK, I gave him a Taurus 85 snubby and $122. Im happy.

Hey Dutchs, it aint a .338 Lapua , but some day maybe it will grow up.;)
But I really like them Savage bolt guns.

Great buy Jim...I have the Hog Hunter in .308 with the threaded barrel but no Muzzle break..it's a 20" barrel though. It was my first rifle about a year and a half ago. The guys on the forum helped me pick it and I just love it. Everyone who shoots it says the same. You gonna love that rifle man!!!:metal2: Helluva lot cheaper to feed to:D

I had a Simmons on my Savage Edge .223 and it did a great job...I was very happy with it and would buy Simmons again.

Took the Savage to the range today.
Just mounted the Simmons scope a couple days ago, did not boresight it.

Off bench,50 yards, using Fed 150gr SP.
Next outing will move to 250yds.

First shot was 1" high and 1" right.( ha, unbelievable)
8 clicks down, and 8 clicks left on scope.
second shot perfect dead center bullseye.

2 more shots ,removed the bullseye.

2 more shots ,thru 2 bowling pins , perfect clean holes all way thru.

A true tack driver, so far, will try longer shots later.
Much lighter recoil, than my other .308,
Nice short, crisp, trigger. Love it.
I really am impressed with the Simmons Whitetail scope.
Extremely clear/sharp, and responds to turrets beautifully, and is on sale at Midway.;)

    Lookout Mr Deer, this fall.

Midway puts it on sale in the summer,
Old Uniongap got one , he liked it ,so I got one.

I am really impressed with it. Super sharp and clear, and love the AO.
Seems to respond perfectly to turret adjustments.

For the money , hard to beat.

After new scope, bipod, and ammo sleeve.

May add a sling for hunting.
