Just sent a message to my Senator telling him we do not want to hear about gun control from this President. I told him that we want to hear how is going to rid this country of Islamic Terrorist from our back yard.
Hopefully he will pass it on to Mr. Odummy

If all the freedom loving citizens would take the time to express their feelings on this subject to our Congress people. eventually ,maybe, hopefully, it might get thru.

People as a whole think it is a waste of time writing their representatives when they sure as heck don't speak for those that elected them. Sad to say it has come to the people having very little representation in the elected government.
The worst response I got was from Senator Kay Hutchison stating they didn't have time to read all the bills before voting on them. I thought that was about the lamest excuse I would ever hear. We pay them for what then?
Maybe if the bills weren't over 3000 pages long they could read them. One thing that should outlawed is any pork or off topic inclusions in bills.

    Jim and Glenn,

I agree with you whole heartedly however I have a question that I want you both to answer honestly. I want you to answer it in your heart and need not post it. Do either one of you actually believe that if everyone would write their senators and congress people, that it would make a difference? Do you think that they really care about US, the normal people of the United States, unless we were sending in re-election contributions? I don't want to disillusion anyone, and I feel the same as you guys, but until we have a full state of chaos, nothing is going to be done. I am not trying to downplay San Bernadino in any way, however, first thing Lame Brain and his constituents want to do is have stronger gun laws. The founding fathers wrote down in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution our rights and liberties for they feared what would happen if the government became too strong, it would invoke tyranny. They had the foresight to do this, yet our POTUS fails to obey those laws by exercising the executive fiat. He implied he might even try to do it with gun control. He said he had no power to allow immigration to run amok, although he did it through executive fiat. He promised transparency. I think the carnivals used the same transparency using smoke and mirrors. Right now there is so much smoke and mirrors that I can't even see myself in the mirror. I am NOT downplaying your disdain and wanting to make Congress listen to us, however, it's status quo and it will remain that way. I applaud you guys and your thinking and I will write my letters also, but I am not going to hold my breath on the outcome. Kudos to you guys for your thoughts and I pray that it will do some good.

Tommycourt, I have thought about that what if they would not listen. Then it comes to mind if you do not voice an opinion then the powers to be would think everything is ok back home. I am an optimist, and I do vote. So to recap, yes it makes a difference. I am so sorry you have given up!

    Tommy,
In my heart of hearts, I do not believe they listen to our views when we write letters,

BUT,,, I will do my duty as an American citizen and freedom loving American Vet, I will always do my absolute best .

I will not quit..... I refuse, to do nothing.

Maybe my letters, and emails, will fall on deaf ears....but , by God, I'm not one to sit back and complain ....and do nothing. At least I get that satisfaction of knowing I tried.

I will NEVER be accused of not trying.

Sometimes ...just sometimes ...a show of strength changes minds...;)

I appreciate "prayer Day" , and other special purpose days,,,that's good....but
I think we need a day set aside called " American Gun Day" .. would be good too....show them we are stronger than they think we are. Everybody show up as a gun owner.:D

An example of why knowing what your constituency wants won't necessarily work:

Bernie has known for many years what the majority of Vermonters think about the euphemism "gun control". Yesterday (I guess it was yesterday) he made a speech decrying the 'recent spate of massacres' and calling for "common sense anti-gun laws". Both we and he know that "common sense" in this context is no kind of sense except wrong. Obviously he expects to gain Democratic votes, never mind that he is a Vermont Senator.

I feel hopelessly 'outgunned' now. I can't see myself voting for a 1%-controlled Republican (near as I can tell, that includes all of them); the 1% believes (for example) that Social Security wastes money that could be theirs. I can't imagine voting for HC - that could cause me to vomit every time I recalled the act, so I would die of starvation quickly.

Hmm. I don't have the necessary popularity/notoriety to succeed as a right-in candidate; how about we start a 'groundswell' for phideaux?

I can go for that. Phideaux for president. A man that believes in Constitutional freedoms and willing to fight to keep them. But then again that is, according to our present socialist in power. the greatest threat to USA even more so than terrorism. Sorry Phideaux they wouldn't let you win but now Hitlery is a possibility because God knows she has no loyalty to the USA what so ever. She is their perfect candidate.

If I could have that seat for 1 week, with absolute power,

I would fire everybody in DC, and bring all you guys in to replace the rest of the HOUSE and Senate....:D

But I'm afraid Buster is right, anybody these days that cares more about the country and its citizens....aint got a chance.

    Cryin shame..

    Glenn,

I am sorry but you read me wrong. I am NOT giving up by all means and will also send my letters. The point I was trying to make is many times we send correspondence and I truly believe it falls on deaf ears. I support you guys and your efforts and I hope Jim knows me well enough to know that I will never quit but at times, it just seems like we are wasting our breaths. To me it seems once they get into Congress they all have good intentions, however being a freshman Senator or Representative, they get into lock-step with their party. It takes a term to even learn how the process works and many fall prey to the status quo on how they should represent their constituents. Myself, I believe there should be term limits for those offices and then let them back out into the real world to find out what it's like to have to work for a living. All I ask is please don't misinterpret what I say, I am WITH you guys 100% and, as you guys do, I will write my letters and make my phone calls to promote change. I won't give up but it's a battle uphill all the way and I won't waiver as I know you guys won't either.

I do know you well Tommy, and I know your a persistent little devil , on anything you think worthwhile, your also an old Veteran , that knows to never quit .

and I also understand the frustration that comes from the "lip service" we get from our elected officials that are suppose to represent us in the government.

    Keep after them Tommy.

    You will sleep well.

    I do....;):)
