A LGS has a model 77 in 458 Lott in very good condition, was this cartridge ever produced at the factory in this caliber?

Well, I don't know if Ruger produced that one in the 458, but man it seems that rifle would be a bruiser! That is one big-ole cartridge.

It is a big one! It looks like a Ruger barrel to me. It has all the rollmarks.

Yes, there is a you-tube video where some guy is firing one in the Lott caliber, which is only slightly longer, case wise, to the .458 winchester Magnum. I've shot the Ruger Number 1 in the .458 Winchester caliber and it is very addictive to shoot. Being a straight wall case, it's really not all that bad. Nothing like a Weatherby .340 Magnum, which will loosen tooth fillings.
