450 Bushmaster

Went to the range today. Shot my 9mms - the Grand Power P1 is still as excellent as always, the Witness shows its shortcomings in comparison. Picked up a cartridge case that looked like a .45 auto with an overdose of Cialis. Thought it was a .45-70 case at first. The casehead is stamped Hornady Bushmaster.

Looked it up online when I got home. Here is a link to Hornady's page:

Designed with Bushmaster for the AR platform, who-da thunk it. Phideaux, if you ain't got one, why not?

"Only" 250 grains, but it moves right along.

Good question... I didnt know about , for one reason..

That is VERY interesting,

I do love a big bore , big power boomer,
But Im not a real big fan of ARs, I got a couple , (honestly, just so I can say I built one and have one) they are not my favorite platform.

But, I may could be convinced to add that one (upper) to my list of wants.;)
Wonder if its similar in ballistics to 454 cassull.

45-70 boolits are .458-.460, dia smallest I use is 300gr up to 500 gr
454 cassull are .454 dia , up t0 .300 gr
S&W 460 magnum uses .452 dia, 240 and 300 gr ( 2300 fps )

I see these are .452 , thats .45 colt dia. usually 240 gr.

Those hronady Bushmaster .450s at 250 gr... thats good .

Im sure , unlike my 5,56 AR, a good fast followup shot would be outta the question.

But, like I always say,, with the cannons you probly dont need a followup shot..

250 grain bullet at 2200 fps...woohoo.
