1949 (?) Ruger Mark 1

I inherited this pistol from my dad. I think it's a 1949 Ruger Mark 1 due to the red Ruger crest. The serial # is 17. Can anyone help with any more info on it?
I just got it yesterday, haven't cleaned it yet.
