Anybody have a "Take Down" If so, How do you like it and how doesit compare to the Standard 10/22 carbine? I've been trying to find one, Butlike everything else gun related right now, I can forget about it for awhileyet.

I have a 10/22 my Parents bought me back in 1975 as a 12th birthday gift,It's been a great rifle and over all those years not a single problem, Well Iremember back when I first got it, It seemed to have trouble feeding from themags (only 10 shot back in those days) I wrote Ruger and they sent me a FreeMagazine, Looking back on it, I think it was Youth and inexperience with theRotary mags that led to my problems, I still have that original magazine and itfeeds just fine.

Glad to see Ruger come out with those BX25 mags now, Of course they may begone soon and forever.

I have a TD model and it is a very sweet package. Shoots just like any other 10/22. Goes together and comes apart easily with excellent fit and lockup.

The case makes for a nice grab and go outfit -- right now I have 4 BX-25 mags in the front lower pocket, cleaning accessories etc. in the upper front pocket, and SOG Fasthawk in the big interior pocket, along with the two segments of the rifle in their appropriate sleeves. Perfect rimfire truck gun set-up for those of us with small pickups and limited space behind the seat.

I collect 10/22s and have ten of them but I prefer the standard issues since a folding stock acheives the same thing. The mags load different in the TD as you need to have the bolt back so there are tiny differences in the TD model. I most prefer the 2006 and earlier models to any new 10/22 as these are all the way Mr Ruger built them. The older trigger groups were better suited for trigger jobs reducing pull. The TD is an oddity is all. Nice little carbine.

Thanks Guys, I more in line with Heater, I think it would make a nice Grab & Go Roadtrip kind of rifle, I like the idea of the bag and seems to be easily stored in a vehicle, If I ever find one for sale, I'll update you as to if I like it or not.

I have several 10/22's with the Take-Down being my newest. The TD shoots just as well as all my other 10/22's. I'd say the TD is more of a novelty or convenience than anything. I pair the 10/22 TD with an SR-22 pistol for what I consider to be the ultimate trail/camp package. I put the pistol in the front pocket of the carry-bag with the rifle and ammo packed into the main section. This allows me to have a rifle, pistol, brick of ammo, magazines, and cleaning supplies with me at all times. Amazingly this weighs in just slightly over 14 pounds. I'm not saying I would want to drag that with me to through-hike the Appalachian trail, but as far as day trips and camping - it doesn't get much better.

I especially like being able to lock the main part of the bag. If you have young children around, it's just an added layer of security.

Thanks Regal, I like the idea of the TD, as you guys have all said, it's a novelty at best, but I like the idea of throwing the bag in my truck for long road trips and having a decent rifle with me if I should ever need it.

Of course I know there's other alternatives to be had for that, but the Ruger appeals to me, I'm sure I'll manage to find one someday, I guess for now I'll have to be content with my regular 10/22 for the time being.

Right now I only have 3 10/22: All SS, green laminate stock with a 3x9 scope, another in an ATI folding stock, red scope, vertical grip with 200 Lumen flashlight, and last is a TD in a modified ATI stock, red dot scope, folding vertical grip and a Laser light combo. Even at night at 30yds I can hit swinging 1/2l water bottles. Too much fun day or night!!

CC,

I'm willing to bet it'll be quite a few months before you can walk into a LGS and buy one off the rack, Your best bet would be to order one, I hear the manufacturers are so busy right now, that basically everything they are making has already been sold. Not only haven't I found any TD's, But I was looking for a Glock 30 SF and there's none to be had anywhere unless you order it in advance.

No Fun, But the only thing I see for sale right now is Bolt action rifles and Pump action Shotguns, seems everything else is flying off the shevles.

Good Luck

Just got my new TD and just found a decent deal on a SR 22 on Gunbroker for the front pouch!
Looking for scope recommendations for the TD. I have an old Tasco which I took off my 30-30 and has always served me well, but it's too darn long to fit in the bag properly. What have you guys (those of you who use scopes) chosen for the TD?

Congrats on the new TD, I have to ask, where on earth did you find one? I've been looking everywhere locally and I have my name on several list at local shops. It's FN crazy.

As far as optics I have several sizes on my flock of rimfire 10/22s:3X-9-32, Simmons 4X fixed and other fixed 4X scopes. I'd have to say my favorite is a short, tactical fixed four power I got off CDNN for $25. It's light and compact. The fixed 4X is a quick acquisition, low weight squirrel spotter. I don't like AO style scopes on rimfires due to weight. Lightness is key. Though I have never put a reddot on my 10/22s i've been contemplating doing so because reddots are even smaller than my 4X tactical. I've also considered a nice Weaver fixed 4X but the recession won't let me do that yet.
I try to mount rimfire as close as I can to the barrel and still fit the dust cover on the scope. Anything over 32mm objective is to big. All of these fit the TD bag. When I was younger i didn't put anything on my rimfires.

I had been on my FFL's list for a couple months, too. At last inquiry he said there was no way he could guarantee me one because he had 18 guys ahead of me! I found one on GunBroker, a little more than I wanted to pay, but right after, I saw them going for upwards of $500! So I don't feel so bad with my winning bid of $419. I just found a SR22 to go with it, too!

What is the brand from the one from CDNN? Sounds like what I'm looking for.

I just had to add a fourth 10/22. I found a brand new Charger at the LGS.
It's great fun in a small package. It will be getting an Archangel composite stock
To go along with the Leapers Red Dot. I already have a Magpull MX3 sling attached by
A RSA on the Weaver/Pictatinny rail.

My TD fills my niche for a compact rifle. My TD has an ATI folding
stock and still fits in the big compartment with Red Dot. Guess I'll
need to find something for the other small slot alongside the barrel.
