If they offer a safety, you should opt to have it. Why? Because it gives you options. In appendix carry you may think having a firearm pointed at your vital parts including femoral artery is a good idea, I don't . The safety gives me one more safeguard, and it is simple, effective and easy to use. In addition, all firearms with a safety have one thing in common, You do not have to use it! SO you have choices and choices are always good. Just MHO!
Recently had an Inguinal Hernia surgery to fix the hernia.I find my Ruger LCP ll lite rack 22 lr is about all the weight I can comfortably carry IWB for now,Have over 200 rounds of CCI ammo and never a bobble with occasional cleaning after 100 rounds to prevent any dirt buildups. Any Gun is Better than no gun >
Semper Fi, 71, I also carry mine for errands etc. and most times anymore a Glock 42 with ext. mag and Hornaday Critical Defense. I have never felt under gunned. I also do not plan on saving the world, just my own butt if the time ever comes for it. The .22 LR is very under rated in my opinion. I used one overseas and it was very effective for its given task.
I often carry the LCP II .22 LR when running errands ,pumping gas ,going to the store to pickup something , I don't need to strap on my 9mm or .45 to do that .I find the little LCP II .22 is enough gun to protect my self I keep it clean and have not had a malfunction or Jam in 500 Rounds of CCI Velocitor 40 grain hollow points at 1435 fps its about 1000 fps out of the short barrel and if a .22 caliber pellet at 14.3 grains can kill a Wild Boar with a head shot at 957 FPS the 40 grain Velocitor can put down an attacker in short order with multiple shots to the head neck torso so I have a drill I draw from the pocket fire 3 shots to the torso and one to the head of the target at 7 yards 21 feet as fast as I can . I have not missed the targets torso neck head yet .I am confident in my firearms skill to come out alive. Thank you for your service in the USMC 2ND DIVISION !
In the same size package,I still prefer the 380acp...........but If I had a lot of 22lr ammo in storage, I would love to practice with that 22. It seems like a neat pistol as long as it is reliable. I had 22lr revolvers for a while. S&W model 17 and model 617

Well, I went to the range with the LCP II .22 LR Teaching a marksmanship course for 2 women just learning to shoot fired 250 rounds each a total 500 Rounds of CCI MiniMag 40 grain round nose ( TARGET ) The Ruger LCP II .22LR OPERATED FLAWLESSLY NOT ONE jamb or malfunction no problems with the gun or ammo . They shot at targets from 65' feet to 7' feet focusing on the head neck torso of the realistic man-sized target torso both these women can now shoot and they both loved the LCP II .22 . I recommend the Federal Punch Ammo OR The CCI Velocitor for self-defense if they decide on the Ruger .22 LCP II.22LR. They both own .38 snub-nose revolvers by Rock Island Armory. They found the .22 Lite recoil low muzzle blast and size and the ability to rapidly engage the target with multiple hits on the vitals a plus they prefer the .22 LR for self-defense. My total round count on my Ruger LCP .22 LR is over 2000 rounds thru MY LCP II .22 LR without any problems. Next week both these women will have their CWP and in my State of SC Open carry goes into effect Sunday, Aug 15, 2021.
My experience is similar to yours. My LCPII has approx 400-500 rds down range and not one issue! I used Aguila Extra Vel. and CCI Standard and both worked perfectly.
