I made these grip for my Single Six 17 HMR, the factory plastic grips just didn't set them off right.

Nice, 67. Nice grain(s). Way better than the plastic.

Those look really good with the grain showing so well. Dang last time I tried making something out of wood it became kindling.

    Great job.

I had some black powder rifles and shotguns that I built from kits that had maple wood stocks. I figured them with a propane torch. Your work made me think of them. Looked something like this.

    Those are good looking grips,

Time consuming and intricate detail work.

    Good job.

Nice Greg, it has a tiger wood character to it.

Anything I try to make out of wood becomes kindling. I bet I could outdo Buster on kindling!!!!

Thanks guys appreciate the compliments. One thing about making them like in other things you do, a mistake or slip of the hand and all your work becomes nothing but experience. And if it's a nice piece of wood that really hurts.

    I really like those.

I have a chunk of Cherry that wants to become a set of grips.

Where did you get the hardware, threaded inserts, etc.

Thanks Frontiersman, Cherry is a pretty hard wood, take you a little time on them. You can get the ferrules and screws from Brownells, the Ruger medallions can be found on eBay, good luck and don't rush things.

  14. Yeah those are some good looking grips, congrats on a job well done.
When I needed grips for my Blackhawk I bought some, no way could I make em'.
